| francesca57's Full Review: Bobbi Brown Professional Concealer |
One beauty product that I seem to always be in search of is concealer. I wear foundation on a fairly regular basis, and want the result to be as flawless as possible. When applying foundation, I put it on fairly sparingly, working towards a natural look. This light application does best if I use a bit of concealer underneath; to hide the occasional blemish, and to cover the darker areas under my eyes that my olive complexion brings.
The problem with concealers is that I always feel like Goldilocks. One is too thick, one is too thin, and none are just right. I buy, I try, I toss. Recently I purchased Bobbi Brown Blush, my first purchase from that company. I was so happy with it immediately, that I went back to try their concealer.
Packaging
Minimal and classy. A small, round, compact-style case. Black with simple white writing. The only complaint here is that the second time I opened this to use it, the mirror which is on the top part of the compact, came flying out. I don't use the mirror anyway, so it wasn't a big deal. But if you're going to put a mirror in the compact, make sure it stays there.
About The Product
Bobbi Brown Professional Concealer is a fairly lightweight concealer with a lot going for it:
~Cream - Because it comes in a small compact with no applicator, application is completed with your finger. I like this method best since I get to apply it exactly where I want it to go, and am able to easily blend it in to my satisfaction.
~Coverage - I have found that it provides excellent coverage, hiding the dark circles well, and doing a very good job covering any other skin imperfections.
~Looks Natural - I have used concealers that were so thick you could see where they were applied through your foundation. I have also had some that were so thin, they rubbed off when you applied foundation. Bobbi Brown Concealer seems to be just right. It is thick enough to cover well, it blends easily so its it's presence isn't noticeable other than its coverage, and it doesn't rub off with subsequent make-up application.
Bobbi Brown Professional Concealer comes in four shades; ivory sand, natural beige, golden honey and warm almond. The spectrum is from light to dark, and gave me enough choice to find one that worked for me. Another plus for those who use Bobbi Brown Foundation, is that the concealer colors are specially formulated to coordinate with their foundation shades.
A Little Bit About The Company
Bobbi Brown, the company, began with Bobbi Brown, the woman. Beginning with a degree in theatrical makeup, Bobbi eventually became a much sought after makeup artist, with a long list of famous clients in the modeling and acting field. She created this company to share her products and beauty philosophy with the masses.
Bobbi advocates a natural, classic type of look.
Price
The cost was $22.50. The product appears to be a fairly small quantity, making this a high priced product.
Where You Can Buy Bobbi Brown Cosmetics?
They are available at most better department stores, and online at http://www.bobbibrowncosmetics.com.
The Verdict
I really, really like Bobbi Brown Professional Concealer. It does the job better than any I have tried to date. Is it perfect? No, considering my idea of perfect is a concealer that covers everything I don't want anyone to see effortlessly and entirely, and costs about 75% less.
Until I find that product, which I'm fairly convinced doesn't exist yet, I'll stick with Bobbi Brown.
****UPDATE****
After using Bobbi Brown Professional Concealer for a while, I tried another brand, BeneFit Boi-ing after hearing it being highly recommended. Although I was very happy with the Bobbi Brown, I found that I prefered the Boi-ing. My review of that concealer can be found at:
