"Upscale business city"...that's the best three-word phrase for Boca Raton. I completely agree!

I passed by that Barnes & Noble too. All I can say is WOW! Thanks for taking the time to stop by,

Hi Anthony,

Good review on the city of Boca Raton. I've passed through it a few times. While I love the city, you're right that it's not a vacation spot -- it seems to be more along the lines of an upscale business city.

One of my favorite places in Boca Raton is actually the two-story glass-front Barnes & Noble. It's a beautiful store, with a good book selection. I generally don't notice bookstores (especially chain bookstores!), but this one stood out.

"airport locations can be confusing to a traveler as far as the definite locale is concerned..I would suggest Anthony do a little revision in about that situation though..
"

Hi Barbara. I got some info on the airports. Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport is approximately five miles closer to Boca Raton than West Palm Beache's Airport.

After reviewing the subject (no no - not that type of reviewing), I decided that I'll simply write that West Palm Beach Airport is also located nearby.

I sincerely hope that this is the closing of the subject. Barbara, thanks for stopping by two times and making this clear(er) :-)

Barbara, how could you as a Floridian and Epinions Advisor rate this epinion Very Helpful?

It's HER opinion of the review. She obviously finds it different than you do.

He mentioned that the airport for Boca was Ft. Lauderdale. Boca is blessed with being smack in the middle of not only Ft. Lauderdale, but also West Palm Beach International Airport.

Fort Lauderdale is more convenient than Palm Beach. Also, why should I have written about the Palm Beach Airport? I've never been there. I've only been to the Fort Lauderdale one.

He also mentions that Boca isn't popular with beach goers. Barbara, if you haven't been to, I highly recommend going to both Red Reef Beach and South Beach Park. This wild beach is fantastic, and it is also an awesome spot to snorkel.

It's not as popular with beach-goers. I'm basically trying to make a point that Fort Lauderdale is much for popular with beach-goers than Boca. But I did mention some of the beaches in Boca Raton and the vicinity.

Barbara, if you haven't been to, you must go to Mizner Park. Mizner Park has live music on Wednesday and Saturday nights. The boutiqes that line the cobblestone sidewalks are quite nice. Mizner Park is a great place to people watch, and best of all for JetBlue is that they have free valet parking!

Free valet parking? I've gotta check it out next time I'm there!

Another free thing for JetBlue is the art galleries at FAU or Florida Atlantic University. Another freebie is the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center. This is one of only ten places in the United States where you can legally observe sea turtles nesting.

This sounds interesting. Unfortunately, we didn't have too much time to do sightseeing while in Boca. Hopefully our next vacation to the area will be extended a bit more.

Barbara, we also went to the Royal Palm Dinner Theatre a few times with my cousin. If you're looking for a place to stay that is as nice as the Breakers in Palm Beach, check out the Boca Raton Resort & Club.

...

Granted their are plenty of people looking for the Early Bird Special in meals, Boca has restaurants to meet every budget. My wife loves the Sweet Tomato that's less than 8 bucks for a healthy meal.

I've never heard of any cheap restaurants in Boca unless it's a cheap chain. We did eat at a Denny's for breakfast one morning and it was moderately priced.

After reading my comments, you may feel that your Very Helpful rating is not really Very Helpful to other Epinion Readers.

Why would she think that? I'm writing about my experience. I'm writing about what I did and where I visited. Since I was only there for three days, I didn't get to do as much as you did. But I still shared my experience and still brought helpful and relevant information to the reader. I talked about Town Center, Cheesecake Factory, Hilton Garden Inn and Festival Flea Market Mall which is in the vicinity of Boca Raton.

I also talked about the scenery in Boca Raton, how clean it is, the roads and how traffic is avoided. Many destination reviews usually don't mention things like that, but I know that it can be found extremely helpful to consumers to know that type of information.

SmartTraveler, I realize that you are educated about the topic, and I thank you for taking the time to comment about your experience. How about you write a review on it? I would love to visit the places that you visited -- I may go to Florida again in February, and who knows? Maybe I'll make a stop in Boca Raton (again) because of your review.

Just please respect Barbara's right to rate as she wishes as I respect your right to rate as you wish.

Condo in Boca? That must have cost a fortune. Doesn't your mom live in like southern Fort Lauderdale or northern Miami now? In any case, she's still in Florida which is much better than New York! Anthony

well to be honest with you, though one sister lives in Coral Springs another in Pembrooke Pines and a daughter in Ft lauderdale, I do head north very often but have not been to Boca very often, only a few times to the Boca Town Center but that's about it..I have heard of Misner Park but never been there...as for the airport situation I do not think that would warrant the lowering of my rating..airport locations can be confusing to a traveler as far as the definite locale is concerned..I would suggest Anthony do a little revision in about that situation though..

Thanks for the tip about that beach..if ever I'm up there I would like to check it out..I'm always looking for a good beach..

Thanks for clearing all that up, Barbara :-)

I had never heard of Aventura, but it probably was because we hadn't visited the Miami area. It sounds like it's a nice area though.

Thanks again for stopping by,

could be when you went into Burdines they weren't ahving one of their many sales..without those sales their prices tend to be a bit on the high side maybe not as high as Bloomies or Saks but enough that you could get that impression..The good thing is for us floridians is that Burdines has many sales and really lower prices during them..

Aventura wouldn't be considered in Boca as it is in North Miami beach...so you were right not to mention it..

Take care Anthony,
Barbara

Pompano is in the Boca Raton area. Boca takes up a large area, so towns surrounding the actual city can be included in the review, FYI. That's like saying I can't write about Disney World in a review on Orlando because Disney World is located in St. Cloud/Kissimmee.

Comparing Burdines to Bloomindales and Saks is an OPINION - not a fact. Sorry I'm not a fashion designer.

Your rating is unjust and I'll pass the offer on updating. I believe the review is fine. You're more than welcome to rate as you please, and I thank you for taking the time to comment.

If you think Burdines has the same prices as Bloomingdales or Saks, I doubt very much if you went in.

You devoted much space to the Festival Flea Market Mall. Unfortunately, the Festival Flea Market is in Pompano not Boca Raton.

If you want to correct your review, I will be more than happy to rerate.

Aventura? Isn't that like the place with 3m homes? No didn't visit there --- we actually didn't visit many of the rich areas with the mansions. Yachting? I would love to buy a yacht...we went boating on Seneca Lake, but it must be so much different when on the ocean, especially in Florida!

Thanks so much for stopping by, R.

Jet~

The last time I was in Boca, I was on a yacht of friend's of ours. We saw a great deal of wealth that visit. Did you get to Aventura? We stayed at The Boca Beach Club, very famous, but I didn't care much for the guests. You are getting alot of mileage here out of your Florida trip!

My best,
Deborah~
