Acid to Alkaline in steep-time of 2-3 minutes
Written: Jul 10 '09
Pros:An inexpensive way to control the acids we ingest daily
Cons:Less of that 'chicken bouillon' taste !
The Bottom Line: For what it does, 3-in-1, appetite-control, neutralizing, cleansing-- BODY RESCUE is the life preserver a busy mom, happy housewife or single individual deserves !
An orange-spice colored cute box with a women leaping jubilantly through the sunset-kissed background heightens the visual senses, so I pick up the box and read. The words ‘Body Rescue” wow how would anyone know my body was in trouble and needed a life preserver in this muck of chaos, stress, lethargy, pooped feeling . . .
The box is neatly wrapped in cellophane, clear plastic wrap and on the front shows this is a pH Protector, a flavored tea naturally; while on the back a little history about herbs and what nature has to offer. It also explains how Body rescue harvests the ingredients perfectly to deliver their promise to keeping the Acid/alkaline balance, well balanced. This health concept became quite prevalent in the latter 20th century and now everyone in some fashion is familiar with appetite control and detoxification. This tea remarkably achieves both, and rather tastefully, I might add.
So on to the most important part of my researching valuable, healthy, useful products is serving the ingredients to interested consumers. This is necessary for feeding a family with different dietary needs, allergies, or just simple hazardous to your health, concerns. I look for what I am about to ingest and I encourage you to look for same, share as you write your reviews and if ingredients seem unfamiliar, google them. It is allowed to make yourself smarter from these reviews ya know, even if you won’t buy right away.
So on we go . . .
Ingredients:
1) Freeze dried Yams -- as the vegetable found in many gardens state-wide, it is a perfect blend of hormone-raising deliciousness for most women who are tolerant of natural estrogens in this rich little yam, not sweet potato ! It is harvested in both parts of the world east and west, but the best comes from wild areas in Africa, Latin America and Oceania. It is a tuber plant that is grown on a perennial herbaceous vine with hundreds of different species, commonly known as Dioscorea and its root is what helped deter and eventually maintain an ovarian cyst from becoming a threat. I am quite familiar with this one and highly recommend its healing and cleansing properties.
2) Parsley Leaf -- an herb that is effective in neutralizing odor like halitosis but more importantly it boosts maximum detoxification at the cellular level because it is highly absorbable by the blood stream. It is commonly used in proportion to diet, exercise and insulin regulation as a way to naturally regulate blood glucose levels (great for diabetics but seek physician consult before just ingesting this).
3) Burdock Root-- often been used to purify the blood by removing toxins that can build up in blood. It can be taken orally or used topically as a remedy for skin disorders. Also, burdock root can be a diuretic or to soothe aching joints. Burdock root has a sweet taste and the consistency of a gum which means adding it to the tea the properties for healing adhere better, from a chemical/enzyme binding perspective. As an addition to a tea that is meant to cleanse, obviously adding a natural diuretic is expected. This, if drank more than three times a day, will definitely help you eliminate water from your body. But you will also sweat more and crave hydration so be prepared to drink water, bottled without fluoride, with your tea during the day.
4) Chickweed-- Used for medicinal and healthy eating venues of self-improvement beginning with diet. Similar to spinach. The major plant constituents in Chickweed are Ascorbic-acid, Beta-carotene, Calcium, Coumarins, Genistein, Gamma-linolenic-acid, Flavonoids, Hentriacontanol, Magnesium, Niacin, Oleic-acid, Potassium, Riboflavin, Rutin, Selenium, Triterpenoid saponins, Thiamin, and Zinc. The whole plant is used in alternative medicine as an astringent, diuretic, expectorant, laxative, refrigerant, and vulnerary; which means as I eat and metabolize into energy what I don’t need right away, is stored later effectively not disproportionately. This root curbs hunger effectively also.
5) Bladder Wrack-- or kelp, is useful in the treatment of an under-active thyroid gland and contains three main constituents: iodine, alginic acid, and fucoidan. It helps burn more fat when exercising so having it is probably a great addition to cleansing the body of toxins. When I drink this tea, I become warm (I suffer from poor circulation) and sweat some because it is neutralizing the neurotoxins and other stuff I don’t want in my body.
6) Buchu leaf-- The active properties of this herb are used for medicinal purposes because the properties are of a natural aromatic stimulant. A tonic that cleanses that is used for symptommology of a dyspeptic, cutaneous, and rheumatic system, which means it does an internal cleanse and flush as well as an external exfoliant activation. The active compounds in the leaves of this plant are volatile oil, gum, extractive, chlorophyll, resin, lignin, etc. Buchu contains diosphenol: stearopten and some amount of salicylic acid. The burned leaf is high in manganese. The diosphenol obtained is an oxycamphor. The leaves contain dioscampho and diosmin, lipids, terpineol, bioflavonoids, and the flavonoids: Diosmin, Quercitin, Rutin. I feel adding this to the tea also promulgates a healthy response to burning calories when given the energy to do so and the feeling of being stripped from the ‘bogged down’ feeling are bodies steer away from.
7) Natural apple and cinnamon flavors-- you can definitely smell the cinnamon as it is stronger than the apple but I still can’t understand where a faint chicken-stock smell would come from ? It has to be the chickweed . . . Anyway, this tea is flavorful and is meant to be drank iced for summer months at a poolside OR sitting in front of a fire with a shot of apple brandy during those exceptionally cold fall and winter months.
Directions for use:
Hot Tea: (directly from box) -- Pour boiling water into a cup containing one tea bag. Let steep for 3-5 minutes allowing for the (absorption of water through teabag, squeeze & out comes tea) which is strong enough to delver two cups of perfect tea from one bag.
Iced Tea: Pour two cups of boiling water into quart-sized container that wont shatter (put a wooden spoon in it to act as a buffer even if you think the glass is safe) using four tea bags. Let steep for about 4-6 minutes then remove the bags by squeezing the contents as you take them out. Add two cups of cold water and chill. Sweeten to taste BEFORE adding the cold water because then it won’t dissolve properly and the tea will be lousy . . .
This tea delivered to us by Body Rescue is fairly inexpensive for the non-chlorine bleached separately packaged 20 teabags complete with string, a staple and semi-permeable feel and look to them. It is helpful during a meal, or following one, to help neutralize food acids we just aid, offering a more alkaline digestive process to clean us.
The health food store I go to offers it for $6.50 a box and it lasts me about 60-90 days because I alternate between flavors and properties of healing or soothing or reviving certain areas of my spirit, mind and body. There is 0 grams of total fat, sodium, total carbohydrates, sugars and protein. By itself, it is NOT a significant source of anything except the properties of keeping the circulatory system alkaline instead of acidic, which is deadly.
When I speak on the taste and then try to put it into words, chicken is the closest I get. Its not over-powering but its in there babe ! I can only describe it as truly ‘unique’. That hint of apple and semi-overpowering cinnamon combined together still offer a great way to feel better, if not different.
