| jefhatfield's Full Review: Bones Fellers Stf 51mm Skateboard Wheels |
Few wheels need to cost $35 dollars or more a set, but this wheel is one that can cost that much and still get five stars. Buying them on the Internet is rarely a deal since they are so popular and not marked down as much as other products and the shipping will make the total cost over $40 dollars.
It's actually economical to get these:
Like many 100 durometer wheels, Bones Street Tech Formula skateboard wheels, or better known by skaters as Bones STFs or STFs, seem to have the amazing ability to obtain annoying flat spots better than any wheel on the market.
Where one can buy a 98 durometer Bones Mini-Logo wheel and have a decent lifespan on them and pay around twenty bucks, most skaters will develop flat spots sooner or later. The Bones STFs last 2 1/2 to 3 times longer than the Bones Mini Logos so one does not have to buy wheels as often.
Best slider out there:
Few wheels can match the slickness of an STF on power slides, a very key trick in modern street and skate park skating. It is this important trick, however, that creates flats spots but the STFs can go longest without getting worn that quickly.
Tips for keeping wheels tip top:
For most very hard wheels, if one does get flat spots or coning, a simple and effective remedy is to both rotate the wheels and turn all four of them inside out. This will even out the wear and give the wheel a longer lifespan. So tough are these wheels that one can do this over and over and as the wheel grinds down to a much smaller diameter, the STF will continue to perform like very few competitors out there. Many skaters prefer their wheels to get worn down to a smaller diameter as it both makes the entire skateboard feel lighter and facilitates better extreme tricks.
White or Black?
The STFs come in white or black and what is most desirable about white wheels is that they last a little longer than the black ones which are slightly softer, yet still tough as they are STFs. While I don't prefer black wheels, if I had to get a pair to solidify a look on a dark deck or with black trucks, this would be the wheel I would use in black.
Final thoughts:
As a reviewer here on Epinions, I have almost always taken a dim view towards products which seem to be overpriced or don't justify their extra cost. But I will make a rare exception here when it comes to STFs. Five Stars.
