Also Despite the title Bee, I see the picture of the Boo Boo Buddy listed on Epinions is that of the green butterfly. Details adds nothing to help delineate which Buddy is the one for review. We have several for Osage County First Grade including the bee and the butterfly. However, since the butterfly is shown, and they are all created more or less the same, and serve the same function; I'll review the butterfly.
Boo Boo Buddy Cold Packs can help to soothe pain and ease the fact that sometimes bumps come when Mom is not around.
Osage County First Grade is filled with confident, independent Little People, until one happens to fall, stumble, or bump. And fall, stumble and bump is something six year old tend to do quite regularly. Then, that confident, independent Little Person must suddenly face being brave, trying not to cry and shaking it off.
I keep several Boo Boos in the refrigerator in the workroom just across the hall way from our classroom. A Boo Boo cold pack, and a tiny squirt of lotion serves to calm all fears and ease all hurt and sorrow.
Fast temporary relief from the cold pack is followed up by a drop of lotion, and soon smiles and sunny dispositions return.
Many times an application of cold may be more beneficial and especially effective when joint swelling or severe pain is present. Some cautions must be exercised when using cold application to avoid skin damage. Frost bit is possible if a cold pack is left in place for prolonged time. I set the timer, and we wipe down the Boo Boo Cold Pack and return it to the freezer in the frig over in the work room.
I find that giving Little People something to think about and something to do, ie watch the timer, listen for the chime, get the wipe, wipe the cold pack and then take it back to the freezer all serve to take the Little Person's focus away from the bump, thump or tumble. Follow up with a spot of lotion completes the cure.
I like the innovative design of the cold packs, a number of shapes and logos are available in addition to the bee/butterfly. The child pleasing shape comforts as the cooled gel helps ease the hurt.
The outer surface is soft and flexible even at freezing temps, the dandy, flat outer material is reusable, non-hazardous and hypoallergenic. Boo Boo Buddy provides gentle, secure pain relief for up to 30 minutes, although, I do set the timer for less minutes than 30 depending upon the particular thump, bump or tumble. Most times 10 minutes of holding a little buddy is enough to relieve stress and hurt.
Boo Boo Buddy cold packs are excellent for bruises, fevers, headache, scrapes, insect bites and inoculations. Size is good for Osage County First Grade and for the Kinders at our school too.
Instantaneous application of cold therapy to treat bumps, bruises, insect stings helps to reduce blood flow to the site, reduces bruising inflammation and pain.
I like that Boo Boo Buddy® cold packs are a harmless and useful substitute to ice, which is generally awkward, untidy and disruptive. We keep our Buddy's in the freezer when not in use. Our nurse washes hurts with soap and water if needed before giving Little Persons a Buddy to help ease the hurt.
Happy to recommend Boo Boo Buddy® cold packs.
