jsmorris's Full Review: Jillian Hunter - A Wicked Lord at the Wedding
One of the things that sets Jillian Hunter apart from other romance authors is her witty stories. A Wicked Lord at the Wedding doesn’t disappoint the reader and I found myself chuckling my way from beginning to end finding it hard to put down even for a few minutes.
A Wicked Lord at the Wedding continues the Boscastle saga this time featuring Sebastien Boscastle. Sebastien met Eleanor Prescott when he was an officer and she was helping her surgeon father in Spain. He relentlessly pursued her until she married him thinking life would be wonderful. Little did she realize that Sebastien would be gone for most of the time during the first six years of their marriage and she was left to her own devices for amusement. Sebastien returns to London determined to win back his wife and make her realize that she will never have to worry about him leaving her again. He was wounded and had to prove himself still a man and a soldier but now he returns and only wants to prove himself as a worthy husband. While he was away it seems Eleanor has become a rogue who is known throughout London as the Masquer who breaks into women’s bedrooms in the middle of the night but no one really knows why. Eleanor dons the costume of a man and everyone seems to think this handsome intruder is up to no good when actually she is stealing letters who may be harmful to her friend’s husband. When Sebastien figures out that his wife is in the middle of this clandestine game he is determined to put an end to it and actually puts his skills against hers in retrieving the last few letters. It makes for hilarious battles and the reader will be entertained more than anticipated.
Character development is excellent which is what we have come to expect from Jillian Hunter. She is so good at making these characters believable that we think they are part of our circle of friends. The one thing I was disappointed in was that we only saw Devon Boscastle and we didn’t catch up with the rest of the Boscastle clan we met from previous books. I really look forward to hearing what the rest of the family has been up to and was a bit disappointed not to learn what has been happening with them. It was like going to a family reunion with half of the family gone! But aside from that there is nothing negative about this book. It’s fun, it’s exciting, it’s erotic at times, and it will keep you turning pages as fast as you can read them!
Overall Jillian Hunter continues to excel as a writer and each of her books gets better as she continues the Boscastle saga. These characters and storylines keep you entertained and laughing to the point you can’t wait to have your friends read them so you can discuss the book. These are definitely novels to put on your wish list and I can only hope Ms. Hunter would write a bit faster so we won’t have so much time between publications!
NOTE: The author gave me an advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review of this book. This review is also published on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
