deflep's Full Review: Stephenie Meyer - Amanecer/ Breaking Dawn
Stephenie Meyer has made quite a name of herself with the Twilight series. I mean, it really is a mega hit. I was a fan of the first book... and the second.... I started slipping when Eclipse hit... But when I read Breaking Dawn... I was baffled. No; Baffled isn't the word. Disgusted is correct. I mean, Stephenie went overboard with this book.
Firstly: What kind of book is the Twilight series? It's this "gloomy-the-world-ends-bad" kind of book. Have you felt that? It always seems there is some cloud hanging over the scene. So, you wouldn't think there would be a "ever-after" ending. In fact, there wasn't much character development in the books anyway. So why would any of us want a happy ending? Why would we get attached? I think with this, Stephenie went out of her morals.
Secondly: Half the book was written from Jacob's point of view. It's like Stephenie forgot what Bella was supposed to act like. Either that, or she was trying to get all these "Team Jacob" players off her tail for not letting Jacob and Bella be together. I'm not sure which, but if she was going to write from two different point of views, wouldn't you want to write from Edward's? I mean, what kind of emotional trauma is he going through? He's freaking killing his wife, but it's not him killing her, it's his kid, that he caused! Seriously....
Thirdly: Jacob and Renesmee?!?! Oh my good God! What kind of plot twist is this? Forgive me if I sound disgusted, that is just wrong! Jacob and Bella KISSED! Now he's imprinting on her daughter?? Is he really that.... I understand this is something he can't help, but it is really disgusting and totally against character. I could see him and Leah together.... Heck, him and Rosalie would be better! (Rosalie is taken though. :P) But Renesmee?! DISGUSTING.
Fourthly: This book was far too long. It carried on and on about a subject that half of the book, was told about from a disapproving view. If you really wanted us to get hyped, you should have put it from Eddie-boy's view. It went about two hundred pages too long.
This book is not in the Twilight family... Not according to me.
