I consider this the first Ayn Rand book that any person should read. In this short book you are confronted with all of the basics of Ayn Rand's ideas that concern "Objectivism" in a short amount of time and through this you can basically guess whether some one will like her more involved stories like "The Fountainhead" or "Atlas Shrugged". I had my friend read this before she embarked on the journey that is reading "The Fountainhead" and she said that she had liked it. I downed this book in about 2 hours and I was begging for more. I've read "The Fountainhead" and right now I'm tearing through "Atlas Shrugged" and I'm glad that I first read "Anthem" because it has helped me understand what was in store for me each time that I've started reading each of her classic best sellers. If you are considering reading a Rand novel, I highly recommend that you pick this book up first.
