Pros: Wizards, detectives, mystery, warewolves, humor, magic, original
Cons: If you read other books reinarates past events too much
Jim Butcher - Blood Rites: A Novel of the Dresden Files I first heard about this series from a friend, I like scifi books, so I gave this one a try. The world of the unknown and mysterious, never knowing what youll find or what world or technology or crazy thing will happen. This book is a good example.
A wizard detective, how many of those are there? The book keeps you interested and helps explain some stuff vital to the story even if you havent read Jim Butchers other books. So dont worry if you havent read the other ones you will be missing out on not that much if anything. The book keeps you wanting to read more with suspense and who done it through out the book, plus the wizard Harry Dresden cant help but throw some wise crack comments and observations in there every now and then.
The story itself is enrapturing, keeping you involved and interested every step of the way. Something is always happening to poor Harry Dresden, whether it be fighting warewolves, finding a spell, girl problems, car breaking down, or how he is going to pay next months rent.
The only thing that really gets on my nerves is the author has a tendancy to tell you details that have already been told in last books: like introducing characters again or retelling of past events, which you may have read in previous books. I understand its for the beneift of those who havent read the other books, but it seems to disrupt the flow of the book sometimes.
