cmaw63's Full Review: Catherine Coulter - Born to Be Wild
Mary Lisa Beverly is a three time Emmy award winning daytime soap actress. She loves working on the set of Born to Be Wild surrounded by people she likes and admires. Her home, in Malibu, is her haven and often holds many of her quirky and wonderful friends.
There is one minor problem in Mary Lisa's life...someone is trying to kill her. Is it someone from the set? Someone who pretends to be a friend and visits her home? Is it a fan that can't tell the difference between Mary Lisa and the witch goddess, Sunday Cavendish, she portrays on Born to Be Wild.
Staying with her dysfunctional family gives Mary Lisa more to think about. Her father adores her...her mother is ice cold towards her...her sisters cause her grief. How do they tie in with what's happening to Mary Lisa?
With the help of her friends, Lou Lou Bollinger and Elizabeth Fargas, and the skills of District Attorney John Goddard and Chief of Police Jack Wolf, Mary Lisa hopes to survive the attempts on her life.
From hit and runs to sniper fire...will they be able to keep Mary Lisa alive?
Born to Read This Book!
This is the first Catherine Coulter book I've read...it won't be the last! I enjoyed Born to Be Wild from start to finish.
The characters are quirky and fun, even amidst the danger.
Mary Lisa after being hit by a car: "Oh dear. You stopped smiling and my hip started throbbing at the same time. Bummer."
The minor characters add wonderfully funny interest to the story. There's Carlo, the 70 yr. old retired surf shop owner that gave a naked, midnight surf lesson to 50 people and Mackenzie Corman, an aspiring actress that doesn't go anywhere without her white toy poodle...and many more.
Born to Be Wild is one of my new favorites. The characters and plot tie in nicely together. I wasn't sure about the whole dysfunctional family, but Catherine Coulter did a fine job in getting this book to work for the reader.
I would (and have) recommended this book to family and friends. I'm giving Born to Be Wild my first 5 star book rating!
