Buenas Noches, Dora!- A short Dora goodnight story
Written: Jan 27 '08
Pros:A great goodnight story entirely in Spanish.
Cons:None.
The Bottom Line: This is another great, and short Dora adventure entirely in Spanish. It is also very sturdy.
My four year old is still a Dora the Explorer fan, and Ive been reading this goodnight story to her in Spanish since she was a baby.
Buenos Noches, Dora! is a lift the flap book. Dora and Boots are on their way home to go to sleep. On the way they encounter sounds coming from animals and they say good night to each of them.
First, they say Buenos noches in a small voice to the Bugga Bugga babies who some are already sleeping, and some are getting sleepy. Then, Dora says it in English.
Wait a minute, what is that noise they hear? Lift the flap and you find out that it is pajaros, birds going chirp chirp. First she says good night in Spanish, and then in English.
Next, they have to go through the flower garden. But then they hear un ruido, a bzz bzz noise. Lift the flap to find out that there are sleepy abejas, bees. Dora and Boots say good night to them in Spanish and in English.
Then they walk near a farm, and there are sleepy pigs rolling in mud, some upside down. Then Dora and Boots hear a clucking noise inside the door. Dora asks if you know what the ruido, noise is? Lift the flap and you see pollos, sleepy chickens.
They leave the farm and suddenly hear a quacking noise in the tree trunk. Then you lift the flap and see some cute little patos, ducks. Some are yawning, and some are already sleeping.
They swing like monkeys from the trees and then they hear another noise, not a very cute noise, but a sss coming from culebras, snakes! They bravely say goodnight to them in Spanish and English and swing on to the lily pond where they hear another noise. This time it is a ribbit noise coming from ranas, frogs.
Lastly, they must cross the bridge and then run into another noise going hoo hoo. Lift the flap and you see one little owl. Dora and Boots say goodnight to the lechuza in Spanish and English and then they finally arrive at Doras house where Mami, her mom tucks her into bed. And Buenos noches a ti tambien, good night to you also.
Buenos Noches, Dora! is written by Christine Ricci and illustrated by Susan Hall. The illustrations are adorable. The are bright, and clear, and colorful. Your child will be able to count each animal Dora and Boots are saying goodnight to. My favorite picture is the one of Dora and Boots swinging from the trees like monkeys.
The reason that this book is one of our favorites is because it is completely in Spanish and my daughter, now at four years old understands every word. In addition, the pages are thicker than most books and the lift flaps are also very sturdy. Weve had this book over two years and there are no tears at all and not even any signs of wear.
It is a very short read at only 16 pages and there are not that many words on each page.
