Eat Yourself Thin.....Dr. Atkin's Diet

Pros:It Works...IT WORKS
Cons:Overwriting all the myths you've heard about fat is tough initially

Okay...the hard facts. I like to eat...and so do you....right?

Most diets try to convince you to eat less. My favorite line from this tome is right up front.....the advice says they want you "to eat as much protein and fat as you can the first 7 days."

That's right...as much as you CAN!

Why? Because it isn't fat that makes you fat.....it's the combination of eating excessive carbohydrates and fat that make you fat. Take away the carbs and the fat gets metabolized quickly and actually helps you metabolize your "stored" fat.

This book has been around for years...but it's sold over 3 million copies the last 12 months for one reason: IT WORKS!

I was introduced to this book by a friend and his wife who had lost 30 lbs and 12 lbs respectively over a three month period. My wife and I.....both in our 40's....had seen our waistlines expand...gradually....over the last several years.

Why? Because as you age your metabolism slows down. I hate to be the one to tell you...but it's a medical fact. Dr. Atkins....a cardioligist....studied diet extensively and hit upon a revolutionary aspect....that it's the combination of carbs and fat....not the "fat" that we've all been conditioned to watch out for over the last 30 years.

I read this book cover to cover on an airplane trip across the country. When I landed, I started it immediately....gave up all carbs...primarily bread and pasta products and sweets...and started eating bacon and eggs for breakfast every morning. I lost 10 lbs the first TEN days....and 15 lbs at the end of the first month. Within 4 months I had lost 29 lbs and my wife had also lost a proportionate amount.

The book itself explains all the scientific mumbo jumbo about what happens when you remove the majority of carbs from your diet....going from an average of 330 carbs a day to under 30....and it's impressive reading. It also give you a carb counter and some sample recipes that are high on protein...which is the good stuff....and low on carbs...which is the bad stuff.

Did you know that heart disease didn't show up until this century in any great numbers...which happens to directly correlate with when soft drinks and processed flour began being consumed by millions of Americans?

I call the Atkins diet "The Caveman Diet". Why? Because if the cavemen could eat it.....meat....poultry....fish.....so can you. If they didn't eat it....pies, cookies, processed bread.....then you can't eat it. Pretty simple.

This book is a MUST READ if you need to lose 5 lbs or 50.

Why?

Because what is described WORKS...plain and simple.
