Yes, in this case I would almost have been glad not to find out what it actually means! It was rather a horrifying realization when I finally figured it out.

Sherry Lee, you should definitely check out this book - it gives some good advice on why this happens and how to stop it. Basically, it's a problem in dogs fed a diet high in carbohydrates (like most commercial pet foods, especially dry foods). The solution given is to feed a home-prepared diet that's higher in protein and lower in carbohydrates (reducing the carb content from about 40% to about 25%).

Please let me know if I can clarify anything for you!

Isn't it great how scientists and academics always manage to come up with respectable and obscure sounding phrases for what really shouldn't enter polite conversation?

I know what coprophagy is as I have tried every product and gimmick available to cure it as one of my dogs refuses to give up her favorite 'snack'. Ugh.

This sound like a book I would like, thanks for the heads up,
