Don't Be Scared of This Cleanse! Kathy Freston's Quantum Wellness Cleanse
Written: Jan 31 '11
Pros:Simple and straight to the point on what you can and cannot eat.
Cons:A lot of the motivational/spiritual parts weren't needed but some may find it beneficial.
The Bottom Line: If you're low on energy, overweight, or don't feel good this is a great book to read and get motivated to change what you are putting into your body.
I'm sure you're like me and hear the word cleanse and think it would be great for your body but will be MISERABLE to actually do. Kathy Freston has a completely different stance on the cleanse compared to the ones you hear about. This isn't an all liquid diet, or limiting yourself to just a handful of foods. This is like a meal plan that omits all of the bad, processed foods that keep your body from being at it's best.
I read the foods that were off limits (caffeine, sugar, gluten, meat, dairy, animal products, alcohol) and knew that I was going to have a couple of struggles but she takes a lot of time to explain alternative foods that you can substitute as well as recipes. The omission of gluten was probably the hardest because so much food contains gluten. If you like vegetables than you would probably be able to do the entire 21 days just using her recipes. I ended up searching for more of my own recipes on the internet. Whole foods will be your best friend while using this cleanse since it's easy to find "whole" foods that are allowed.
I didn't buy this book for her 'spiritual' help or motivation but more for the guideline of the cleanse. Some of it is interesting to read if you want some solid reasons why the foods you are eating are helping you while on the cleanse and why the omitted foods are toxic to your well being. I highly recommend reading this book and trying it out for at LEAST 7 days and you just may feel and look better as well as lose a few pounds. It helped me reduce all of the omitted foods in my diet permanently and I plan to do the 21-Day cleanse several times a year.
