| poetchik's Full Review: Anne Marie Winston - The Soldier's Seduction |
Wade Donnelly is a man on a mission. Formerly a solider stationed in Afghanistan, he has recently returned to the states and is longing to see a childhood friend of his, Phobe Merriman. The last time Wade and Phobe saw each other, it was at the funeral of Phobe's twin sister Melaine and after the funeral was over, Wade and Phobe slept together. The next after the funeral, Wade left for Afghanistan.
After Wade and her sleep together, Phobe is torn. Although she is happy that she and Wade were finally able to be together, she also feels that Wade only slept with her because she looked like Melaine.Shortly after Wade left to go overseas,Phobe found out the she was pregnant. Phobe decides to move from her hometown in California and start a new life with her daughter in New York.
When Phobe gets a call from her babysitter one afternoon saying that there is a strange man sitting on her front porch, Phobe doesn't know who to expect. When she approaches the porch and sees that the man is Wade, she is shocked. The last Phobe had heard, Wade had died while overseas in Afghanistan. Seeing that he is on her front porch and very much alive, Phobe and Wade catch up on old times but Phobe has still failed to tell him that he has a daughter.
Phobe and Wade go out for dinner and that night, Phobe tells Wade that she has a child. Wade immediately jumps to conclusions and assumes that the child is someone else's. Once Phobe informs him that he is that father, Wade decides to move in an start being a father to his child.
Will Phobe and Wade ever act on their true feelings? Is Phobe willing to quit her job in order to be with Wade? Can Wade and Phobe forget the past and be a good parents to their daughter?
I liked this book because the characters were well written and the author did a good job of reflecting the inner thoughts of Wade and Phobe.
