SusanT's Full Review: Susan S. Weed - Wise Woman Herbal for the Childbea...
Susun Weed's book is a great resource, from supporting a natural pregnancy, through teas like red raspberry leaf and nettle tea, to helping discomforts of pregnancy through natural means such as herbal/vitamin/exercises.
She explains it all so thoroughly that the newbie in alternative health care to the advanced herbal user finds this a great resource. Even though it is thorough, it is easy to read, and friendly without talking down. The chapters are fairly short, but complete in information
Susun Weed's book covers pre-pregnancy, pregnancy, and postpartum(including the new baby care). She not only tells you what herbs will help at different times, she tells you if vitamins will help more, or if some other natural means is better
She tells you all about the herbs, how to get them, prepare them, and how they affect you. There is a great chapter in the end on making teas/infusions, and salves that is a great resource.
Her advice has come in very handy for many of my friends. I turn to the book fairly often and find it very useful.
Susun Weed knows what she is writing about and it is one of the best herbal books out for the childbearing period in ones life. (She also has a book on menopause that I have not read yet).
