| Social14's Full Review: Boomerings |
But what exactly are these Boomerings?
Boomerings are flat, oval shaped and about 1 1/2-2 inches long. One one of the long sides of the oval is a small opening. This opening is surrounded by a ball of the same color plastic (helps to prevent pinching I guess). It is through this opening that you can snap, or link, together the pieces. Boomerrings are brightly colored in red, blue, green, orange, yellow, and purple. They can be used for infants, children, and adults. This is one "toy" you will never outgrow. There is always a use for them! Right now, they going for about 7.99 for a set of 24. It seems a little costly at first, but, due to all the use they will get, they are well worth it!
Well, what are these things used for?
When I was little, my mother bought a set of these Boomerings from Discovery Toys. I have a sister six years younger than I, and we used them for many different uses. They held extra toys on the play gym (dangled some of her favorite toys from them). Other times, in the days when there were no pacifier clips, we used them to attach her pacifier to her stroller or walker (also in the days when walkers were commonly used...). My other sister, two years younger than I, and I would use them for toys - we would snap them together into a long chain, and then make necklaces and bracelets out of them. They made for a great dress-up toy! During birthday parties, we used them in our games. The Boomerings were snapped together to make clearly marked boundaries. Occasionally, my mother would use this toy. She used them to hook something up out of reach of little hands and to help us learn our colors ("hand me the blue link...").
Now, as a babysitter and a child care employee, I use them in many of the same ways. They clip on toys to whatever the child is sitting in so that they do not lose their toys. They still are great for making jewelry for dress-up, and any other idea children have (one boy I was watching used them for a tow truck line, and a little girl used them to make a "pool" for her Barbies - she used only the blue and green links so as to represent water). It is amazing the things children find uses for.
