Three of us spending a week in Las Vegas together and it is the first visit for all three. We don't have any big plans except to relax by the pool and eat some good food. I did some research and booked reservations at several places for brunch, lunch, and dinner. This morning we headed to The Border Grill for their weekend brunch and WE LOVED IT!
The Menu
The Border Grill's brunch menu consists of small plates including things like skirt steak and eggs, huevos rancheros, Peruvian shrimp and grits, breakfast enchiladas, churro tots, short rib hash and eggs, chorizo and egg tacos, bread pudding french toast, Yucatan Egg Benedict, biscuits and sausage gravy, and frittata tarts. It is an all you can eat menu for $29.99 and the waiter suggested ordering at least 3 plates initially. For an additional $5 you can add all you can drink mimosas which come in pomegranate, passion fruit, peach, and traditional flavors. This brunch is available between 10am and 3pm on Saturday and Sundays.
This restaurant also has full lunch and dinner menus but my experience has only been with the brunch one and that is what this review is about.
Our Experience
When we arrived at the time for our reservation, we were asked if we were there for lunch or brunch (brunch), if we wanted to sit indoors or outside (outside), and if we wanted a table that was sheltered or out in the sunshine (sun). We were led downstairs and out to the patio, given the brunch menus to peruse, and asked if we wanted to add mimosas to that (of course!!!). They took our first round of orders quickly and delivered the mimosas even faster than that. The waiter reminded us that we could have as many as we wanted and that we could change flavors as often as we liked.
Once the dishes started arriving, they came about every 8-10 minutes or so. We enjoyed almost everything that we had (the Yucatan Egg Benedict was pushed aside by the two people who ordered and tried it) and the waiter was great about keeping the mimosas flowing. For the first official morning of vacation, you really can't go wrong with sitting outside in the sunshine, listening to Bob Marley, drinking cocktails, and eating some amazing Mexican-inspired food.
After an hour and a half, two of us had ordered and eaten 6 dishes while the other had 7. The waiter didn't rush or discourage us from ordering food or drinks. In fact, when we told him that we were completely full and just wanted the check, he told us that we were in Vegas and could take "to-go" mimosas if we wanted... which we totally did.
Our brunch at Border Grill Las Vegas this morning was outstanding and we enjoyed it so much that we made reservations to do it again on Saturday morning before we fly back home. Kudos to Chef Mike Minor and his crew for a wonderful morning.
Overall Opinion
If you want a delicious Mexican brunch experience in a casual and relaxed atmosphere, you definitely need to check out The Border Grill in Las Vegas. The three of us absolutely loved it and the two of us who will still be here on Saturday can't wait to do it again!
