Pros: Built-in sensors to detect dryness and prevent overheating
Cons: The drum only spins one direction...wish it went both ways to prevent minor tangling
The Bottom Line: I am very happy with it so far. Time will tell whether my satisfaction remains high. I hope so after reading some of the other reviews!
coka's Full Review: Bosch Nexxt® WTMC3321US Electric Dryer
I bought my Bosch last week and after doing 14 loads, I conclude the machine is smarter than me. Although I selected what I thought to be the appropriate programs, the dryer stopped when the clothes were dry. I like this special feature as it reduces overheating.
A variety of programs are available. This includes Regular and Cottons using damp dry, regular dry, very dry or extra dry options. The permanent press sports a very dry, regular dry or damp dry option. Another feature is the ability to select a timed option of 20 minutes, 40 minutes or 60 minutes. Lastly, you can select delicates low temperature or an air-fluff/no heat option.
I found the Program Selection Table in the manual very helpful in order to decide which option to use. Overall, my clothes dried appropriately on most settings. One exception was the permanent press where I added the delicate low temp feature. I found I had to dry it twice. This was my mistake. I should have just used the permanent press and let the machine's sensors figure it out as it did on the other settings. The other exception was a load of sheets. They were not totally dry in the center where they bunched up.
Certain settings will gently rotate your clothes every ten or so seconds for up to one hour upon completion. This is to reduce wrinkling.
I put a bunch of bathroom rugs in this evening using the "very dry" feature. When I began, the timer stated this program is 1 hour and 17 minutes. The special sensors in the dryer noted them dry after 40 minutes and stopped itself. I liked this very much!
An important note is that select settings (all except the timed ones) control the amount of heat and its temperature. This protects your clothes.
You can buy a stand that includes a drawer for storage. The cost is 199 dollars extra. I chose not to purchase it. I found out from the manual a special rack can be inserted inside the machine to dry shoes. I am not sure if this is an extra purchase or if I did not get mine.
I surmise the light in my dryer is not working. During the 14 loads, the light went on once. The manual suggests what to do in this case. I am going to call my salesman and ask about getting a replacement bulb. I will also ask if I was supposed to get the shoe rack...!
Somewhat surprising but not really a big deal is that you have to buy a dryer chord and you must have a certain type of ventilation hose. Both are for safety reasons but I would think for a high ticket item, the company would include the new chord and the certain type of hose. Just my opinion.
Since the Bosch is a German product, I found out one of their parts and distributing warehouse is just five hours away in another state. Also, the company I purchased it from has their people service Bosch products. I feel okay knowing this if anything goes wrong.
I am glad I took the time to read the manual, to understand the settings and why. This dryer is much more than a 3 cycle, 3 heat machine...which tells you how old my last dryer was! I do not expect it to last as long as my old dryer, but they do not make anything now-a-days like they used to!
