Pros: Fits into small spaces, better for the environment, looks nice
Cons: Small capacity, spin cycle noisy, can't stop mid cycle, takes an hour
The Bottom Line: If your apartment building requires "high efficiency" washers and condensation dryers, I definitely recommend this set. If there are no limitations, go with something bigger.

If you live in a small apartment and you only have space for a compact washer, or your landlord only allows high efficiency washers, then this is a great bet. However, there are some negatives of high efficiency, compact, low water use washers in general. Obviously, they have a smaller capacity. You can only fit about 3 large towels (bath sheets) in at a time. The spin cycle is pretty noisy (sounds like a plan taking off), however, mine doesn't "walk" like the other reviews say. Our landlord put it on a tray type thing, presumably to prevent leaks, but it also seems to work to keep it in place. When I put in our big, thick bathmat, the spin cycle sometimes is not able to get up fast enough to get the water out, and I have to repeat the spin cycle, which is good b/c this washer has that feature of spin cycle only. You can't stop it mid cycle if you forgot something, but I don't think that's a big deal. The rubber lip traps water so if you don't clean that out occasionally, it grows a bit of mold - but you just need to wipe it out with tilex about once a week with a paper towel. The regular cotton cycle takes an hour as opposed to traditional washers that take about 40 mins. There are a lot of different settings, I am not even sure what they all do, but if it's good to have choices. I use the hand wash setting frequently with my delicates. All in all, if you live in an apartment where you have to have a high efficiency washer and condensation dryer, this pair is good. I have had it for a year and a half and have had no problems with it. However, if you have the space and are allowed a bigger one, I'd recommend a bigger one. Regardless, living in manhattan, I am just happy to have a washer at all. It's perfect for a couple or small family. For my husband's and my clothes, I run about 6 loads/week, but I think we go through more clothes than the average people.
