Pros: Absorb oil without disturbing makeup; fast and easy to use; nice size; virtually odorless
Cons: None for me
I recently received a generous 25-sheet sample of Boscia Green Tea Blotting Linens when I placed an order at Sephora.com. I don't have a major oil problem, but I do have a somewhat oily nose and don't always like to powder it because the powder can start to cake after a while. I'd tried blotting sheets in the past and had mixed results with them. I was happy to try the Boscia brand, and have enjoyed using them so far.
Boscia Green Tea Blotting Linens are a very thin, small sheet of "paper" made of abaca leaf fiber. They remind me of tissue paper in texture but are even thinner. They measure about 3.5" x 3" and are pale green in color. They have specks that look brown to me, and it looks like the green tea is in the paper but I can't feel them - the sheets are completely smooth.
From Sephora.com: Boscia Blotting Linens absorb excess oil and banish shine without disturbing your makeup. These 100% natural linen, preservative-free facial blotting papers will keep you looking matte and lovely, all day long. Their compact holder slips easily into your purse, pocket, or desk drawer.
The packaging that the Boscia Green Tea Blotting Linens come in is sort of like a tiny, flat tissue pack made of heavy, coated paper. They are packaged so that you can pull just one out at a time without pulling out a bunch of them.
Ingredients (taken from packaging):
100% natural abaca leaf fiber, green tea.
Boscia Green Tea Blotting Linens are used to blot the oil from the face. They can be used when you have makeup on or when you don't have any makeup at all on your face. I don't seem to notice the oil when I don't have makeup on, so I never use them without makeup. The blotting sheets are used by just pressing the sheet to the oily area of the face. It's that easy - the oil is on the sheet and off the face.
I don't like green tea scents, so I was really hoping that these blotting sheets would not have a strong green tea scent. Thankfully, they are virtually odorless. I sometimes think I can almost smell the green tea, but it's so faint that it could be my imagination. I'm glad, because I wouldn't like smelling the green tea scent even for the few seconds it takes me to blot the oil from my face, let alone if the sheets were to leave behind a scent.
Boscia Green Tea Blotting Linens are small, but still big enough to remove the oil from my nose area. I always have more room on the sheet to remove oil from other areas, which I don't really need, but I tend to hold the sheet to my chin and cheeks too just in case it might pick up a little excess oil (it sometimes will pick up a bit of oil). For those with very oily skin, it's possible that you may use two sheets, or for those with moderately oily skin, it's likely that you will use just one sheet. I can see the oil on the little sheet, but my foundation and powder don't transfer onto the sheet. I love that part of the process - it blots away the oil but doesn't disturb my makeup.
These blotting sheets are disposable, single-use sheets. After each sheet is used, it should be discarded. They are not reusable and can't be washed or anything like that. However, if you use just half the sheet, you can cut the used part off and set aside the unused half of the sheet for another use. Boscia states that both sides can be used, but I've tried this and I feel like the oil somewhat soaks through to the other side, and haven't had very good luck trying to use both sides of these. I encourage anyone else to try using both sides, though, just to see if you get the same results or not.
Overall, I love the Boscia Green Tea Blotting Linens. They are so fast and easy to use, are odorless and are a great size. The package they come in is slim and small, so it fits into my purse easily without taking up a lot of room. The heavy coated paper dispenser these come in isn't really sturdy enough to get kicked around in my purse for very long, so I try to keep them in a separate area from the majority of the items in my purse...if I don't, the packaging gets shredded after a month or so. These would also store nicely in the car or your desk. My pack contained 25 sheets, but a pack of 100 sheets is only $10. This is an outstanding value. For just 10 cents per sheet, you can blot the excess oil from your face without taking your makeup off with it. I will continue to purchase these sheets because they perform so well and are so convenient.
