I had so many problems with the first receiver out of the box that I took it back. Bose did replace it with no hassle. I then had problems with the remote which they replaced. The second system would turn on in the middle of the night on it's own.

I do like the multiple zones and for movies the sound isn't bad although I have a small space. The actual CD/DVD player they selected to put in the unit is of very poor quality. I can play discs in both my computers that the Bose will never read. The slightest scratch or error cause the unit to lock up. So does using the optical input on the aux input. It lacks midrange sound and if you play music while the surround is on the rear speakers sound just goes on and off periodically making it annoying. You have to have the TV on in order to follow menus because they scrimped on the display, which sucks if you use a projector and have to turn it on to select settings for music.
I would not buy this or any other Bose product again. They are over priced and you are paying for marketing. The only reason I bought this unit was because of the small form factor with the speakers, which sounded good in the showroom. It works in a small condo without being obtrusive.
