dlstewart's Full Review: Stanley Bostitch Anti Jam Full Strip Desktop Stapl...
When I inherited my new desk at work, I found two staplers on it. It did not take me long to choose the Stanley Anti-Jam Full-Strip Stapler (Model # B660) over the other heavier stapler.
Description
This Stanley stapler is 6 5/8 long x 1 5/8 wide. It stands about 2 1/4high. It is a nice deep glossy black. In case you worried that you might not remember that Stanley made this stapler, Stanley Bostitch is not only embossed on the top of the stapler, but is also printed in bold white lettering across the narrow front of the stapler near the metal stapling plate.
An all-metal mechanism is inside the stapler. Since this is a full-strip stapler, it holds a strip of 210 standard staples. The stapler also opens for easy stapling into surfaces such as a bulletin board. The manufacturer states that it can staple up to 20 sheets of 20-pound paper (which is the typical weight of copy paper).
Along the entire bottom of the stapler is a rubber base. Embossed into the rubber is the model number along with the words: For best performance use Stanley Standard Staples.
My Experiences
The best features of this stapler is that is has never jammed, and it is incredibly lightweight. I can lift this stapler and use it one-handed. It is very easy to hold and doesnt hurt my hands. The stapling action is easy, too.
I usually staple stacks of papers that range from 5 12 pages. On occasion I have used this stapler to staple 20-plus pages without a problem. The stapler offers consistent stapling performance, whether I am stapling multi-copy forms or 20-pound copy paper (or a mix of the two).
While this stapler can fully open so that the stapling head can rest against a surface such as a bulletin board, I do not use the stapler this way. Just to see how easy it was to open, I flipped the top and bottom section apart and found dust on the staplers inner throat. So I wiped it clean with a dry cloth. The stapler is stiff to fully open, which I think is a nice safety feature.
My only qualm about this stapler is reloading it. The spring inside the stapler is tight. It is not a problem to open the stapler, it just is a bit stiffer to open than other staplers I have used. Once opened, the staples easily fall into place.
Even though the bottom of the stapler says to use Stanley staples for best performance, I fill the stapler with Swingline standard chisel point staples. They work great stapling well and never jamming in the stapler.
This stapler is lightweight enough so that I dont mind carrying it around the office during my filing exploits in various areas of the building. However, the rubber base on the bottom of the stapler does not make this a non-skid product. I can easily shove this stapler aside on my smooth desk top. But Im not after a paperweight, just a solid consistent working stapler and this Stanley stapler provides reliable stapling.
Purchasing
This stapler was bought at Staples for $8.29.
Summary
The company liked the Stanley Anti-Jam Full-Strip Stapler (Model # B660) so much that they purchased several of them. I havent heard anyone complain about this product, and highly recommend this stapler. Its great using a stapler that doesnt stress my hand.
