Silly Name... Serious Stuff

Pros:Pleasant scent, applies/cleans easily, treats multiple symptoms
Cons:Expensive, hard to find
The Bottom Line: Boudreaux's Butt Paste is a little pricey, but it goes a long way and really is worth every penny. You'll use it for more than just baby's tushy.
I must admit, the name Boudreaux's Butt Paste stopped me in my tracks at Wal Mart (the laughter drew some attention, too). Always being one for simplistic naming and truth in advertising, I had to pick it up. I was, however taken aback by the price: $3.99 for a 1oz tube of this stuff! Secretly, I screwed the lid off a tube and sniffed. Smelled pretty good. Then came the texture test. I squeezed a fairly negligible amount onto my finger and rubbed it around. It wasn't greasy or sticky, and rubbed all the way into the skin instead of leaving a pasty mess. My fingers felt soft until I washed them, so I knew the stuff would have some staying power.

I bought it. Yes, I bought the tube I had fiddled with.
Boudreaux's Butt Paste was sold at a small-town pharmacy in Louisiana for 20 years until it went nationwide. The only places I've seen it have been CVS Pharmacy and Wal Mart. I'm sure there are other places, but if you can't seem to find it, you can always order from their website at www.buttpaste.com. They have everything from single tubes to gift packs, t-shirts, hats, bibs, nightshirts, and towels. There's even wholesale information.
The active ingredient in Boudreaux's Butt Paste is Zinc Oxide. Other ingredients listed: Peruvian Balsam, Boric Acid, Castor Oil, Mineral Oil, White Wax, and Petrolatum. The appearance is a thick, cream-colored paste. Each tube has the "Pediatrician Recommended" seal.

The tube stayed in the diaper bag until Tyler was about a month or so old. I noticed his tushy was a little red, so I sprang the Boudreaux's Butt Paste into action. A little bit of this stuff goes along way, and rubs all the way into the skin. I used it for the next three diaperings. At each change, I noticed the redness decreasing, and by the fourth change, the redness was completely gone. In using this product regularly for the last 6 months, Tyler has never had a real diaper rash, even since he's started sleeping all night.
I had a rash on my back that itched and drove me bananas. I saw doctors, who gave me Prednisone, steroidal cream to smear on it, steroid shots, Benadryl, nothing seemed to help. Out of desperation, I grabbed the Boudreaux's Butt Paste. I though, "What could it hurt?" Apparently it didn't hurt anything; in fact, the rash is almost healed after using nothing but Boudreaux's Butt Paste.
Honestly, I love this product. Boudreaux's Butt Paste works better than any other treatment I've tried on my other kids (and myself). It is definitely worth the money, and I'd HIGHLY recommend it to anyone.
Silly, but honest name... serious product.
