Boulevard has been rated as SF's #1 restaurants 2 years in a row, but I highly doubt the credibility of the rating. The place itself was big, but the tables were all squished together. I was just about to participate in the next table's conversation if they weren't planning on adding comments to mine. Noise level was a bit unbearable. Nobody told me it was a "hype" restaurant, I expected it to be a bit classy but not stuffy.
Food itself was decent. I would not exactly called it the best. I had some kind of pork chop, the meat itself was pretty tender, but the portion was just a bit big. Imagine you have champagne to start out with, then wine, then appetizer, and now you see this huge "pig" sitting in front of you, I was taken by it. Wasn't appealing at all. My dad had the beef, and it tasted a bit over-cooked even though he requested medium rare! As for dessert, the choices were not that many, and we had a chocolate killer cake, a banana bread pudding and some sorbet. They (of course excluding the sorbet) were far too rich after such a heavy meal.
One thing I like very much about Boulevard though is their extensive wine list. Prices for the wine were decent, and the selection is praise worthy. If anything, my wine compensated my not so pleasant dining experience at Boulevard.
