I go through lots and lots of paper towels every day, since I spill my coffee at least once or twice, and then the cats leave various things for me to pick up, and sometimes I just need to dry my hands and face when all of the cloth towels are hiding out in the laundry basket.

I’m kind of partial to Sparkle, but I did not have time to run to the grocery store, and I was already at Ace Hardware, and they had this big six-pack of Bounty paper towels on sale for only six bucks, so of course I bought it. Mom did not raise any fools. Now I buy them 15 rolls at a time.

I was very positively impressed. These towels tear off the roll straight on the perforations, without ripping across the middle. In fact, they are hard to rip on purpose, even when wet. Bounty paper towels are soft and strong, and they feel like dusting cloths or rags made from old T-shirts. They are not quite as strong as cloth, but they are much stronger than my former favorite paper towel, Sparkle. I can use them as napkins, and they feel softer on my face than most paper napkins. When I spill my coffee, one Bounty towel cleans up more than two Sparkle towels used to soak up.

Yes, I have given up on Sparkle and switched to Bounty. Even at the regular price, Bounty has turned out to be a better value. The towels are softer, stronger and more absorbent, and the roll is thicker and lasts about twice as long.

The big test came when I washed the car windows. (I do not do house windows, although if I can no longer see through them, I might give them a squirt or two with the garden hose.) I try to avoid smoking cigarettes in my car, but stuff happens. That greasy, smoky film can make it really hard to get the insides of those windows clean enough to see through, especially on a rainy or foggy day. I use a good glass cleaner, but the paper towels that I use to wipe my windows must take off the moisture and the grease, without leaving too much lint behind.

I must say that Bounty passed the car window test with flying colors. I have managed to find a tiny speck of lint here and there, but not much. Besides, these towels really do sop up that greasy film and leave my window glass clear so I can see through it.

Product

These towels are white, with no colorful decorations. Each roll has 60 sheets, or towels, and each sheet is about eleven inches square. You can also get Bounty in a “Select A Size” roll, with sheets that are about six inches by eleven inches. If you need a small towel, just tear off one. If you need a big towel, tear off two without tearing them apart in the middle.

It is easy to tear them off of the roll without any ripping across the middle, so you always get a whole towel when you pull on it, and you never get half of the next towel on the roll.

The roll is the same standard length as other brands, so it will fit most dispensers, but sometimes the roll is too thick to fit into a cheap little wall dispenser, until you have used up about a fourth of the towels.

They do a good job of cleaning up.

I recommend these big rolls of Bounty towels as a very good value.
