You have to replace the rods after a certain period of time? That's something they don't tell you. What's the warranty on the machine?

I agree, you can use the Bowflex without a spotter, but to build muscle more effectively, a spotter can help you push yourself and give you a "helping hand" to get through that tough set.
As for the lifetime rod replacement: At the time I owned the Bowflex, I was not aware of any such guarantee. Sorry about that mis-information.

The power rods are guaranteed for life. Even if you did wear them out, Bowflex will replace them for free.
One of the big advertising points of the Bowflex is that you can use it without a spotter.
Thanks for your epinion!
