Pros: Gets results, lots of different exercises
Cons: Lat extension is ill-designed, cheap build quality, expensive for what you get
Bought the unit 3 years ago. I enjoy working out with it. The "rubber band" like resistance is wierd at first but you get used to it.
Bowflex is pretty good at warrantee issues the first 3 years. Stuff will be replaced without hassle. On mine, the nylon grips were wearing out and fraying so I had them replaced. The bench seat is made of cheap plastic and started to crack so had that replaced. Also, the pulley is not as smooth as when new... the cables are clean so I don't know what's up with that.
The lat extension is a joke. With it attached, the back rest (when doing bench presses) can no longer rest on the flat each of the main body. Instead it simply rests against the pole of the lat extension. No way that is stable and will no doubt stress the main body to failure. Very poorly designed, so I leave it off. Do not get the lat extension!
With newer "bowflex-like" units available for half the price, you better think hard about going with the original.
