| chrissamdog's Full Review: Bowflex Power Pro |
I have been an avid golfer for the past 10 years and these days the only thing keeping me from playing every other day is lower back pain. I tend to put a lot of pressure on my back because I swing like I am trying to knock the ball to the moon and since I can't seem to change my swing I figured it was time I do something about it.
I have been going to the gym for quite some time trying to improve my ab's and back strength for that specific purpose, plus it looks better. The problem with that was I couldn't help but do other things like play racquetball at the gym and that was hurting my back more then anything. Until 1 day about 6 months ago a friend of mine bought the Bowflex and invited me to workout with him. I haven't stepped foot in my gym since that day. It was one of the best workouts I had been thru in some time and I wasn't tempted to play racquetball. Now all I do is the Bowflex 4 times a week and run 3 times a week and I am in better shape then ever, with no back pain whatsoever.
I am a very impatient person when it comes to working out. I hate waiting in between sets, changing machines, adjusting weights etc. So a lot of times at the gym I would do these sets way to fast and tire way to soon. With the Bowflex I don't feel that way, mostly because we are in his home with a huge T.V. that doesn't have soap operas on it like the gym always seems to have, no pressure of someone else waiting to use my machine and all of the other flaws of the gym scene.
There are over 60 different exercises you can do on the Bowflex. Exercising your Legs,Back,Abs,Chest,Arms,Shoulders and even an aerobic rowing exercise which is my favorite. Turn on a Padres game and I can go forever on the rowing exercise. The lifting of the weight is very similar to free weights and dumbells. Which is nice compared to some of the machines where it is so unevenly distributed and no need for a spotter, but it is nice to workout with someone(just not the rowing, that can take awhile).
As you can tell from my review I really enjoy my friends Bowflex and would recommend it to everyone. It is expensive so if you can find someone to partner with it is well worth every penny. I pay $50 for a gym membership (12 x 50+$600) it would pay for itself in 1 1/2 years. Although I am fortunate enough to have a friend with one I did give him $200 for letting me use it any time I want. My membership is up next month and I won't be renewing it. All I need now is the Bowflex,Pacific Ocean to run by and my Golf and I am a happy camper.
