The Bottom Line: Read my review to see what I think about the Bowlfex Power Pro.
I have been looking for a long time... I was looking so hard at different pieces of exercise equipment. Eventually, I got sick of going to the gym at Northwestern. After a while, you truly get sick of getting in your car, riding to the gym, the waits for the machines, etc... So it was time to start a home gym, and I chose the Bowflex Power Pro, and I never regretted this decision.

Many people say that the Bowflex Power Pro is expensive. Is that a joke? First, let's look at the competition. I am mainly focused on upper-body workouts such as chest, arms, shoulders, and then down the abs. I looked at a Nordic Track chest/shoulder press machine, a $600 sticker, that's as cheap as they went. So as you can see, home gym can cost a lot of money! That machine only did a couple of exercises. However, the Bowflex Power Pro has over 60 different exercises! The price tag is only $400 more plus $99 shipping! How can anyone say that $1,098 for such a machine is expensive? You get an entire gym-load of workouts all in the privacy of your own home! It would even be worth $2,000+.
The power rods (Weight) on the Bowflex Power Pro have a life-time warranty. That means you can break as many as you could possibly want, and get new ones shipped to you at no cost! The Bowflex Power Pro also has a 6-week satisfaction guarantee. That means that if you don't like the Bowflex, you can ship it back to them. However, I doubt that you wouldn't like the Bowflex Power Pro.
The Bowflex Power Pro is a sturdy machine. The Power Rods are very durable, I haven't seen any metal fatigue at all. The Power Rods are actually composite, which means that they are very durable. I have had no problems with the bench or movable bench. Everything is in great condition. The pulleys are also good as new. There are no signs of wear anywhere on my machine. I have been using it vigorously, and it is just like new. This thing will last you, very durable machine.
The bench feels alright when you are lying or sitting on it. I do a lot of chest exercises. Even though the bench is plastic, that doesn't really bother me. Once you're in, you can go on for hours. I think standing exercises are a bit annoying to do. However, there is one thing I don't like about the comfort and all. When I'm doing exercises at a 45 degree angle, I have a hard time reaching the handles... But that's really the only problem that I found the Bowflex to have.
Instead of using traditional weight stacks, the Bowflex uses composite 'Power Rod Resistance', The Bowflex Power Pro operates through a very well thought out pulley system. It's very easy to change weights, even though it may take a bit longer than changing weights on a traditional stacked weight machine. Some people say that the resistance feels awkward, but it really doesn't. It feels a lot like any other exercise machine. Or if it does feel awkward, you will definitly get used to the feeling.
The Bowflex Power Pro has over 60 different exercises. I think that the improved Power Pro models are simply a waste of money. The Bowflex Power Pro has more than enough effective exercises. Did I already mention that the exercises are very effective? The first time I ever used it (A friend's Power Pro), I felt a total difference in my body. That is because I have such a low body-fat composition. The Bowflex Power Pro is making me buff. Some exercises will only add bulk, but the Bowflex Power Pro is sure to add very toned and large muscles to you body. I have no experience with fat buringing because I don't have much, but I do hear that the Bowflex Power Pro is capable of making many people lose the weight and fat. I use it to gain muscle mass and weight.
When you watch the infomercials and hear what the Bowflex Power Pro can do for you, you'll probably say, "Yeah right, just another TV item." Brace yourselves, the Bowflex Power Pro is everything it is claimed to be and much more! It totally improved my life by making me larger, healthier, and it makes me feel much better mentally. If you are looking for an inexpensive home gym that doesn't take up much space and truly gives you an amazing work-out, then the Bowflex Power Pro is for you!
