Pros: Great for starters. Convenient exercise equipment to have at home for busy people.
Cons: Over priced. Might end up losing money. Does not compare to gym equipment.
The Bottom Line: Bowflex might be great for people looking to start exercising and who are looking to just tone their body.

| tropicalad1's Full Review: Bowflex Power Pro |
I have used free weights and other gym equipment for several years now. After watching several times the Bowflex infomercial, I though it would give me the same results plus save me the drive to the gym. So why not give it a try? After all, like the infomercial says “I have nothing to loose”. Right?
At first, I was very pleased with my purchase. I found that my workouts took less time since I did not had to worry about getting to the gym. However, after 5 weeks, the novelty had worn off. Yes, I had kept the weight off. But I also noticed my muscle mass had also somewhat diminished. Contrary to what the infomercial says, if you are used to free weight, you will notice that the resistance weight on the Bowflex will NOT feel the same as using the same weight on regular gym equipment or free weights. You will also notice that a 50 pound power rod will not fell the same as using a 30 plus 10 plus 10 power rods.
If you are looking to loose weight, any LESS EXPENSIVE equipment will also do the job. Remember, IT'S NOT THE MACHINE what will make you loose weight – it’s the building of muscle mass and the reduced calorie diet. No science there Dr. Allington Darden! For about half or even less than what you will pay for a Bowflex, you will be able to purchase better muscle building equipment and get the same or better results.
Are you looking to build muscle and look like the models that are in the infomercial? SAVE YOUR MONEY! What Bowflex won’t tell you is that those models ALSO use free weights and regular gym equipment. There is no way they will get that kind of muscle mass with a Bowflex! Have you ever heard of or seen a gym franchise that carries Bowflex? Wonder why?
And here is what you really must consider before placing your order. It's the fact that, if you are not happy with your investment, YOU DO HAVE SOMETHING TO LOOSE! Something more than just the weight. Yes my friend, you will be out $219 in shipping both ways (including the handling charge from Bowflex) should you decide to return it. Even though Bowflex will mail you a postcard with the option to have Bowflex pay the return shipping should you not be happy with the purchase, they will not honor it if you decide for the extra "free" equipment. Equipment which you are returning to them. Their loss, nothing. Do you still think "you have nothing to loose"?
Remember that if you are not the type of person who enjoys exercising, you will end up regretting the large amount of money invested in a Bowflex. You might end up just having a place were to hang up all your extra cloth.
