Revolution vs. Cage (Reply to this comment)
by shm02
First of all, thanks for such a great review.

My question: Do you think you would get a better workout with the Bowflex Revolution or a cage with a smith system (to do presses and squats alone)? For argument's sake, say the cage is pretty comprehensive with a lat pulldown, low row, and a bench that allows for leg extensions and leg curls. This may be a tough question, but any input you might have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again.

Sorry--I didn't see this comment earlier. We are still really enjoying our machine, no buyer's remorse, but even with time and practice it still feels a little big for me...

I'm shopping for a home gym and am interested in the Bowflex Revolution. I found your review very helpful and wanted to get an update on your review, now that you've had the machine for a few months. Does it still seem large for you and your husband? Is there anything else you would add to your first review.

Thanks.

The company provided information says "Hundreds" but that reflects the variety you can get by changing hand positions or bench positions. The owner's manual has the exercises broken into sections for Chest, Back, Arms, Abs and Legs. There are foot harnesses that allow you to do hip ab and adduction, along with other standing leg exercises. There is an attachment/bench for preacher curls. I'd say there are well over a hundred exercises in the manual--if there is an area you are particularly interested in, let me know and I'll look it up.

...and thanks for posting your first review. Overall I found it to be 'helpful'. Some additional details, such as suggested in the first comment, would add to the review's helpfulness. Please stop by Epinions again in the near future. -Dave
