I purchased mine after it had been on the market for a while. I got mine used from a lady who wanted a treadmill instead of a treadclimber. Her reason for selling it was that it does not go over 4.0 mph. Other than it is expensive if you get a brand new one, if you can find a used one that still works that is the way to go.
I love it. I'm not looking for a treadmill that goes fast, but something I can get a steady cardio workout. I use mine like it is meant to be used w/each step, stepping. You can lock the steps together and it will be more like walking on a treadmill, but I have never done this. I believe it takes the affect of the stair stepper out as well.
