In case you were hoping to try Brasserie T, you waited too long. They are closed and a new restaurant had already opened in their space. If you are a fan of Gale Gand and Rick Tramonto's culinary fare, there are other places you can try.

Have you been to Trio? Since you were planning on having a meal in the 'burbs, you might as well go to Evanston and have a knock your socks off experience at their old restaurant. They are no longer 2/3s of the Trio, but some of their signature dishes are still on the menu. Try the caviar palate. It is an artist's paint palate. The colorful foods are chopped egg whites and yoke (white and yellow), chopped onions (purple?), and caviar in black, red and green. They give you little brioche toast to "paint" your own creation. There is a chef's degustation or you can order off the menu.
If you want to head to the city, try Tru. You need reservations (same at Trio). It is more of a special occasions place for dinner because of the price. They have a lovely lunch menu. I went to Tru just after they opened and there was a special, 2 courses for $30. I am not sure if they still have that. One of my favorite parts of the meal was the raspberries frozen in the ice cubes used for the iced tea. What a great idea! I haven't been there for dinner yet, so I can't vouch that it is as amazing as lunch.
Unfortunately, Brasserie T was a restaurant that you could go to in more casual clothes, or with "well behaved kids" (being a new parent, I have learned that any place that has a closet full of high chairs is saying it's ok to bring my kid). Tru and Trio are not child friendly and not in the casual dinner price range.
If you really wanted to eat in Northfield (for some bizarre reason) MK North opened in the Brasserie T old location. It is still very new and reservations are a must. Their lunch and dinner menus looked nice (we went there w/o a reservation on a Saturday night and only got as far as the menus, (we were so excited to have a sitter we didn't phone first).
