BryRrose's Full Review: Breathe Right Nasal Strips Clear Small/Med, 30 Str...
I bought the Breathe Right Nasal Strips because someone in my home had a slight snoring problem. To protect their reputation I will call them "Pat". We went to the store in search of the right snoring aid. We bought the clear Breathe Right Nasal Strips so Pat could have the comfort of knowing that no one could see that a breathing strip was adhered to Pat's nose. The first couple of nights the clear Breathe Right Strips worked great. It was a miracle and Pat was elated, not to mention Pat's partner.
First, what is a Breathe Right Nasal Strip? For the answer to this question I have copied from their website the following:
"The Breathe Right nasal strip is a drug-free, non-prescription device that works mechanically—from the outside—to gently open nasal passages. This reduces the resistance to air flowing through the nasal passages and improves the ability to breathe through the nose. "
When you go to the store you have to consider a few things before you purchase the Breathe Right Nasal Strips:
1. Size - The Breathe Right Nasal Strips come in two different sizes: Small/Med and Large. Because of Pat's small delicate nose, we decided that the Small/Med would be the perfect fit. On one occasion we accidently bought the Large. They were way too big and a little trimming was needed, which I believe decreased its effectiveness. I would stay with the Small/Med size unless you have a Barbara Streisand type nose.
2. Color - The Breathe Right Nasal Strips come in two different colors. The clear and the tan. The clear was developed for people with sensitive skin or dry skin, that is the only difference between the two colors..
3. Why - Why do you need the Breathe Right Strips? Breathe Right has two different types of breathing strips. There are the normal strips and there is a mentholated strip that helps with colds. The normal breathe strips are drug free and do not have any mentholating help.
Once you buy your breathing strips, which we bought at Walmart for just over $6.00, you get them home...now what do you do? When you are ready for your night of slumber simply wash the area around the nose and make sure it is completely dry so that the strip can adhere to your nose completely. The strip is approximately 3 inches in length and 1/2 inch wide and has an underside that is made out of a special adhesive that sticks to Pat's nose. The adhesive is protected by two protective papers, much like a band-aid. Take off the protective papers over the adhesive and attach them to your nose. In the instruction pamphlet that comes with the strips it will show you exactly where to apply the strip. I usually....ummm, yikes, oh okay ummmm Pat usually applies the strips while Pat still has their glasses on, they act as a guide to where the strip should go. Pat has found that this has helped a lot with the placement, everyone else's results may vary.
Pat loves the Breathe Right Strips and so does Pat's partner. However, Pat's does not like the "clear" strips as much at the original "tan" strips. Why you ask? Well the clear strips to not adhere as well as the normal strips. I...Pat believes that it has to do with the material that the two strips are made of. The clear strips seems to be made out of some type of plastic material, the original strips are out of a fabric type. The fabric type just seems to lay on the nose better and just work better . So if you do not have a problem with skin sensitivity or dryness, Pat recommends the original strips.
Breathe Right recommends that you use the strips for up to seven consecutive days for the effectivness. Pat has used the strips for several days and Pat's snoring subsides, but after Pat stops using the strips the light snoring eventually returns. Pat and Pat's partner believe in the strips, they do work. But using them every day can be expensive.
Final recommendation, if you have a partner like Pat that snores or has a slight problem with breathing out of their nose do invest in a package of Breathe Right Strips. Pat recommends the regular, but the clear are okay, they just do not seem to adhere as well as the regular.
