I wanted this toaster for a long time. I have horrible luck with appliances, toasters in particular, which usually burn out after a month or so or which catch on fire. Consequently, I asked my mother to get this for me for Christmas two years ago.

The good-I picked this toaster because I make a lot of toast for my family and love features on my toaster. It has the four slots I needed, plus it contracts for regular bread. It has a lift and look feature, which lets you glance at your toast as it pops up to see if it dark enough, and then slides back down on its own if you don't hit the cancel button. The cancel button is handy to immediately cancel your toasting cycle at any time. It also has a feature I love, a beep when the toast pops back up. I use this feature because I get two kids ready for school every morning at 6:00 a.m., and make school lunches while the toast is cooking. I am usually somewhat disoriented in the mornings, and the toast could sit there and cool before I would realize it had popped up before this toaster. It also looks beautiful, if it's possible for a toaster to look beautiful. When I first saw it, I thought with very little work I could probably fly the thing to Mars it was so futuristic looking.
Sounds perfect, right?
The bad--Here are the issues I have with this toaster. First, the coils do not cook evenly, something I expect on a cheap toaster but not on one that cost my mother almost $200. Both sides of the bread also do not toast evenly. Second, when the toaster is heated, as in it has toasted one piece of bread, you have to turn the darkness selector down or it will burn your bread. Third, it makes a squeaky, painful noise sliding down and sliding up (I said pop earlier, but it slides more than pops.) The noise doesn't really bother me, except it makes me wonder if the toaster might be giving out on me.
On the positive side, it has not caught on fire, which puts it ahead of the last three toasters I had bought, although I wouldn't say that alone is a reason to buy this toaster.
If appearances were all that mattered, I would recommend this toaster. However, the nifty features don't quite compensate for the fact that it is lacking in the one area it was designed for, making evenly browned toast.
I won't give it a completely negative review because as I've mentioned, any toaster that doesn't catch on fire earns a few points in my book, but for the price, I would expect it to toast better and more evenly.
