Pros: Maximum protection, great durability
Cons: Extremely stiff, hard to break in, big and bulky on your hand...
The Bottom Line: Although it has great protection and durability, the restricted movement makes this a very unwanted glove...

| CraigEgg's Full Review: Brine X-Factor Gloves LXBB |
In the game of Lacrosse there is a few very important pieces of equipment that when you buy them you should look into them to see if they are a product that you would like. Buying a stick is a major decision, but I believe buying the gloves is even more important. You can have a great stick, but you may not be able to handle it well with a pair of gloves that are very stiff. In this review I will tell you how I feel about the Brine X-Factors, and the Brine X-Factor pluses. Also, I will tell you the glove that I most definitely recommend above both of those gloves. Hopefully you get something good out of this review, and you do not make the same mistake I did, and buy a pair of gloves which are nice looking but are really awful.
BRINE X FACTOR-
This is the first glove I had bought from Brine. I had heard a lot of talk about it so I decided to just go ahead and order a pair of them from Great Atlantic. I did so, and I was very disappointed. Well, I shouldn’t say I was very disappointed; I was mainly disappointed in some critical aspects of the gloves. The first problem I noticed with the glove was the restricted hand movement you had. The thumb area was extremely stiff, and still to this day I haven’t broken it in enough (now I have a different pair o0f gloves, which I will tell you about later in the review). The amount of stiffness in the glove did affect my play, and I was very disappointed in this purchase. There was a plus to this glove though. Although it was very stiff, it lasted me a long time. It also had a great amount of protection, probably due to the amount of leather padding added on to the glove. I do believe that that was the cause of all the stiffness in the glove.
You think I would have learned from buying the X-Factors to not buy an expensive glove without looking into it, and getting some trusted advice. But, I didn’t learn. About a year later I purchased the Brine X-Factor pluses.
BRINE X-FACTOR PLUS-
The name sounds better, and you would have though they made some improvements from the original X-Factor. Well, they did. They made the glove smaller, and there was a little bit of extra movement. Although they changed some aspects of the glove, I still was not satisfied. I wanted a glove with great feel for the stick, and maximum movement. At the time I knew that it would take time to break in a new pair of X-Factor pluses, but I wasn’t ready to take the chance of breaking them in and still not liking them. So I brought them back to the store. I got a full refund because I hadn’t really used them yet. I then became smart and did some research.
Through my research I came up with a popular glove that everyone seemed to have something good to say about it. The STX Catalyst was said to be everything I wanted, but to really truly see if that was true, I had to try them my self.
STX CATALYST-
The gloves finally came in the mail and I quickly pulled them out of the package. The first thing I noticed when I put them on was how broken in they felt, even with me not using them yet. I then quickly noticed the palm. It was made out of mesh, so the feel for the stick was so great; it was just what I was looking for. I then feel in love with those gloves, and I am still using them today. The glove has maximum movement, great protection, but not so great durability. The palm, when wet, does tend to wear and tear after awhile. That is the only bad thing about this glove.
As you can see, the Brine X-Factor gloves really aren’t that good, and the STX Catalyst worked out perfect for me. I hope this review helped you out in the long run, and hopefully you will not make the same mistakes that I did. If you have any questions about lacrosse, or anything in my review please leave a comment or drop me and email. Thanks for reading!
