Pros:Easy to use for a beginner smoker, easy to store when not in use. Cons:Water bowl, lower rack and charcoal pan hard to access, vauge temp guage. The Bottom Line: A easy to use smoker for anyone wanting to explor the world of smoked food. Easy to use and easy to store.
I have had this smoker for quite a while now and am quite happy with it. I have smoke meat cuts, turkeys and other items with great success. You can put quite a bit of food inside it. I also monitor my meat temp with a digital thermometer so that I dont have to lift the lid causing significant heat loss. There are some great recipes that come with this smoker. Its easy to assemble.
You should put the smoker on some sort of surface so possible drippings dont end up on the pavement. you can either purchase something specifically for this reason or just go to the automotive store and get a large aluminum oil pan like a blitz (it will be cheaper).
There is no way to clear the ashes from the coals while you cook so you have to keep them stirred. Also reaching inside to add water can be tricky. But find your self a long spout kettle or something to that effect and it will be much easier.
The upright shape of this unit makes it very portable and easy to store and it comes with a decent cover for storage.
I have also used this as a grill and it works great that way also.
There are 2 racks and they sit one directly above the other so if you use both racks do not put anything on the lower rack that you will have to handle or remove 1st because you wont be able to get to it.
The temp dial is a basic vague low, medium, high gauge with a dial so I prop a instant read meat thermometer inside the opening around the lid to get a more accurate internal temperature reading.
