| meanbeast's Full Review: Brita Fill & Go Water Filtration Bottle |
My family is a big fan of the Brita Filtration System. We have a pitcher in the house and can't stand to drink anything else. So when I read about the Brita Fill & Go Water Filtration Bottle I was absolutely thrilled: it was the solution to all my problems!
I love water.. I drink tons everyday. So I would bring a bottle of Poland Springs to school everyday, and chug away. However, I would run into problems when I would finish that water bottle--the water fountains at school are absolutely sickening. Plus, buying cases of Poland Springs at a time probably isn't the most cost-effective or environmentally-friendly idea.
When I brought up the Fill & Go water bottle to my parents, the complained that I didn't need it, waste of money, etc. However, when I got a $10 gift certificate to Drugstore.com, I was amazed at the prices: $6.99 for the bottle, and $2.99 per filter (needed every 2-3 months). I tossed one of each into my cart, and I waited for my package to come.
Installation
Installation of this water bottle is a cinch--probably so much that I don't really need to label this as a category. First, unwrap everything (cap, mouthpiece, top, filter, bottle). Screw the large blue cap on and snap the filter into it's top. Drop the filter into the cap, then screw on the mouthpiece. Fill up and squeeze a load through (to get rid of the black stuff in the filter), and you're ready to drink!
Why do I need filtered water?
The Brita filtration system helps improve the taste of water, get rid of bad smells, and remove lead, chlorine, and other harmful substances that may be present in your water. Why is this important? Well, your body is only as good as the stuff you put in it. Drinking impure water will lead to other problems in your body.
My memory is bad--how will I know when to change the filter?
Since you want your water to be the best it can be, changing the filter is always important. But does Brita expect you to remember in your mind, or to write it down? Of course not. Included with the bottle are decals that fit on the side of the bottle, reminding you what month & day to change your filter on. It's very helpful, and doesn't come off in the wash.
Who needs Brita?
While anyone would benefit from it, I would definitely recommend the Brita system to athletes. Drinking better water leads to better quality muscle--an aspect that always helps an athlete. Also, anyone that loves water is sure to like Brita--why pay a high price for bottled water when your Brita bottle will do?
Warnings
Brita filters impurities out of already (decently) clean water. Do not fill up your Brita bottle with potentially dangerous water, or from a questionable source (stream, etc). Brita cannot remove microrganisms such as bacteria.
Any Complaints?
The worst part about the bottle is the fact that it doesn't have any insulation--meaning it sweats A LOT. On hot days especially, the bottle is always covered in water droplets. Also, while this isn't a big complaint of mine, some people may not like the unstylish white bottle.
Final Thoughts
I was thrilled by the Fill & Go water bottle--the thought of having clean tasting water that I can refill at school actually excited me. For anyone that regularly drinks a lot of water, I highly recommend the Brita Fill & Go Water Filtration Bottle.
