Pros:Safety features, high weight limit
The Bottom Line: Buy it! Your children and their safety are worth it!
A friend of mine had a Britax Marathon, and raved about the safety features, but I felt that the cost was a bit prohibitive, especially since there were perfectly good car seats on the market for a fraction of the cost of a Britax seat. However, my younger daughter passed away (not due to anything carseat related) before she turned two months old, and I realized how much I valued my children's lives. I do not know what I would do if I lost another child, especially if it was in a car accident, and if I looked back and regretted not spending the extra money for them to be safe. I also realized that I should not put a price on my children's safety, and that if it meant giving up a few dinners out to ensure that my surviving children were extra safe, then it would be worth the sacrifice.

The Marathon is a substantial size (it is bigger than most mass-market car seats), and Britax uses EPS foam, which is similar to what is used in bike helmets, throughout the car seat. The seat fits perfectly fine in the backseat of my Toyota Camry. The size IS a bit of an issue when traveling via airplane, but my child is much more comfy in the Marathon than any other car seat anyway, so I'm happy to keep HER happy on a plane.
The Marathon rear-faces up to 33 pounds (and the experts agree that rear facing is the safest way to be), and the forward facing weight limit is 65 pounds, which means most children will be in this seat, with a five-point harness, for many more years than a less expensive car seat. The height limit is 49 inches.
Aside from the safety pluses, the cowmooflage cover is absolutely adorable. My 2 year old goes to the car and says, "I want to sit in my cow seat!" We love that the cover comes off for easy washing. I also love the velcro that is on the sides of the seat, which makes for easy in and out.
Overall, I am glad that I spent the extra money on this car seat. My child's safety, and the fact that they can stay in a 5 point harness for a longer period of time, is worth the difference in cost.
