My son started using this seat when he was 8 months old because he outgrew his infant seat in height and we still needed something that could be rear facing. Infants should be rear facing until they are at least 12 months old and 20 lbs. We kept him rear facing until he was 14 months and 22 lbs. At that time, he was getting too tall to sit rear facing because his legs were getting squished against the back seat. He's now three years old and still fits comfortably in the seat. We have a Rav4 and it fits great in the middle or on either side of the back seat. When it's in the center seat, there is still enough room for an adult to sit on either side of him.

What's great about this product
I love that this seat was affordable, compact enough for our small suv, but still feels safe. The hooks that clip into the latch system in our car are easy enough for me to install and pull snug. There is also a teather that attaches behind our back seat to make it more safe as well. I really like that there is velcro attached to the harness straps which allows it to stick to the sides of the car seat to keep them out of the way when we're getting him in and out. The fabric on the seat cover is soft and almost has a suede feel to it. My son has no problem falling asleep in this. I also like that it's a neutral tan so doesn't clash with any car interior and also doesn't get too hot like a darker color would in the summer.
Adusting the harness straps as he grows has been very easy. The instruction book is attached to the seat so you'll always have a quick reference guide. I've taken it apart enough times now that it's easy to remember.
Issues & Improvements
One thing that could change is that the fabric be machine washable. I've removed it a couple of times to wash it. Sometimes it needs to get washed quickly and it really would be time saving to be able to put it in the dryer.
Another issue we had, which I think is just due to how we installed it in the car was with the teather strap while he was rear facing. We have his car seat installed in the center seat in the back, which meant the teather extended from the top of his car seat across his seat, to clip into the roof of the car. This made it tricky to get him in and out of his seat because we had to fit him under the teather straps and slide him into his seat. At least it didn't last for too long of a time period because he only needed to face backwards for a few more months. This might be the case with all car seat facing backwards using a teather though.
