Pros:Quiet operation, well spaced lighting

Why we got the Broan QS2

We had a Broan in our last two houses and were always pleased with the quality, so when we were building our third, there was no question what brand we were going with. My husband was researching range hoods and stumbled across this model that was just coming out in stores about a year ago. It took a bit of work to track down, ending up being a special order, but this turned out to be worth the extra work.
~ Brushed finish stainless steel
~ Over 50% quieter than the average range hood

Thoughts on performance
We've been in our house for nearly a year now, and so far I have very few complaints. I really like the fact that there are the 4 lights spread around the surface. With that many lights, I usually only need to have it on the lower light setting and it's plenty bright. (There are 3 light levels.)
The claim that it is quieter than other fans seems to hold true. Even when it's on the high level, can hear conversations in the kitchen. (You can definitely hear it running, but isn't blasting your ears.) There are 3 fan levels and I usually only use the low level, or sometimes medium level if cooking a lot or mainly on the right side.
I haven't had to clean the filters much yet, but they are very easy to remove and clean off. The instructions say they are dishwasher safe, but I haven't gotten them dirty enough to try that. The surface wipes clean easily, especially with the flush controls.
I like that there is an indicator light above the light or fan control setting that is on to know what setting it's on.
My only complaint is that the fan behind the filters is actually on the left side. So when on low, don't expect it to work wonderfully for the right side burners. If on higher setting, then it's powerful enough it works on both sides.
We didn't install it ourselves, so I don't have any input on that process. But I know it's durable and solid built... before installation, when constuction was in progress and there was no good place to sit, our grandpa used it to sit on when it was sitting on end. No harm done (thankfully!).
It comes with the Heat Sentry feature, but though it was a feature that caught my eye when deciding on a model to buy, I actually haven't noticed it kick in yet. I cook a lot, but must not have the heat on the stove top high enough to kick it on to a higher speed. However, in case you are wondering, from the user's manual on how it works...
Your range hood is equipped with the Heat Sentry feature, which monitors temperature. The Heat Sentry will automatically turn the fan on at its highest speed when the temperature is above normal.
1) If a fan setting is selected when the Heat Sentry in on, the light above the fan button will flash on and off.
2) If the fan setting is off when the Heat Sentry is on, the light above fan button 3 will flash on and off rapidly.
After the temperature has lowered to normal, the fan will change to the setting prior to the Heat Sentry turning on.
