| Bijou's Full Review: Broth Chicken Free Range 4 Package 8oz Packages Or... |
How wonderful it is to find a product that actually tastes good and is good for your health. In my house, chicken broth is a necessary pantry staple, and normally I buy the chicken broth in a can at my local market. When I recently noticed the four pack of Pacific Free Range Organic Chicken Broth instead of my usual buy, I figured that I would give it a try. The four pack is a better deal @ $7.99 at my local Costco; one box in my usual supermarket haunt costs $3.79 for one box. Each box has 32oz of broth, which is great because I can store it opened in my fridge for a week and splash it into so many different recipes. After purchasing and using this product over time, I've become a huge fan of the Pacific Free Range Organic Chicken Broth. Its wonderful chicken flavor enhanced my cooking and tasted so much better than the canned product I typically used.
So what is a "free range" chicken anyway, and how does that affect the flavor of broth? Well, free range chickens are able to roam freely and are not kept in cages or cramped quarters. These chickens are grain fed and their diet affects their constitution--i.e., the flavor of their meat. The Pacific brand ensures that the chickens are raised in this way, which many people feel is more humane for the fowl, and that they are not given any hormones or antibiotics. A healthier lifestyle for the chicken makes for a tastier meal for us, and the Pacific Free Range Organic Chicken Broth has a rich, authentic flavor that reflects the quality of the chicken.
If, like many consumers, you are watching your sodium intake, you may avoid chicken broth that boasts the "low sodium" label because it is often bland. Not so with the low sodium Pacific Free Range Organic Chicken Broth. Although the broth is lower in sodium, it has a deep and tasty flavor that doesn't require a ton of salt to make it more palatable. In one cup of chicken broth, there are 70 milligrams of sodium. Compare that to my typical brand, with a whopping 930 milligrams of sodium per cup. A staggering difference! Yet, I don't feel like I am missing any flavor at all when I eat the Pacific Free Range Organic Chicken Broth. It smells and tastes like delicious chicken--not like a chicken-flavored-salt-lick.
All of the ingredients in the Pacific Free Range Organic Chicken Broth are organic--even, interestingly, "organic chicken flavor." I'm not sure how a "flavor" can be "organic," but I'll go with it. It's that organic chicken flavor that made me a convert from one brand to this one. The broth is also fat free, wheat free, gluten free, casein free, and made with quality ingredients. In my kitchen, it is a box of chicken broth perfection. I can eat it guilt-free and enhance my recipes with its savory flavor.
If you are in the market for a superior chicken broth that is better for your health, tastes better than its competitors, and is widely available in supermarkets or club stores, try the delicious Pacific Free Range Organic Chicken Broth. Bon Appetit!
