xuare's Full Review: Brother DCP-8065DN Laser Printer
Printer comes with driver for just about anything. We use MacOS 9 and Linux, with some Windows. Everyone can print from the network. The scanner drivers are also available, however I haven't used it yet. If you have issues scanning, it does have a nice feature where it will simply upload scanned documents to an FTP server you specify in it's configuration (via web, telnet, or the front LCD.) The front LCD menus are easy to use, and it prints very fast. If you print gibberish, it will burn through the 50 page tray in about 2 minuets. Larger trays and toner cartridges are available if needed from Brother.
My main problems is that I have RMA'd two printers for inability to duplex copy from the auto-document feeder. The paper goes in, gets scanned, and gets stuck while being ejected to scan the second side. On the bright side, the RMA process was great--Brother pays shipping and even includes packaging tape to reseal the old box with.
Tech support is friendly but leaves me feeling like I am not allowed to deviate from their script.
Others have stated this scanner is not adequate for photo scanning, which makes sense if it's aimed at business needs. OCR may be more difficult at lower resolution however. Also, you need brothers closed driver to print at the full 1200x600 resolution. I personally haven't tested this since I keep having to RMA my printers...
