irish80122's Full Review: Brother DCP-8065DN Laser Printer
This product is nearly perfect for me. I am a college student on a budget so when it came time for me to apply to graduate schools I realized that I needed a printer/copier that I could afford and that would get the job done. I had used Brother in the past and decided to buy them over HP, even though HP was having a huge sale at the time making their products cheaper than the Brother! I must say I haven't been disappointed.
I didn't think that I would use the automatic document feeder but I soon realized that it is one of the best features on this MFC. It can actually duplex your copies as well which is very nice. It connects perfectly with my computer over the network and I have had no problems whatsoever with connectivity save one situation...for some reason Windows Firewall was blocking the printer at first. I installed a different firewall and disabled Windows Firewall and this is no longer a problem.
The only negative I have found is envelope printing. I seriously have thrown out about 50 envelopes, I have tried. All of them come out so horrible that I couldn't use them! I ended up using labels, which worked out fine, but still...it should be able to do labels. The problem is that it still bends them like a normal piece of paper. Speaking of which, like other Brothers, this printer does curve the pages a bit. I have never minded and they do eventually lay down but it is worth noting.
Overall I am very happy with my purchase and I would highly recommend this unit to anyone who needs a MFC but not a fax (if you do, get the next version up). I love this machine!
