I finally decided to buy a laser printer when my lexmark inkjet printer ran dry. I was so disappointed with the lexmark because the last cartridge only printed about 50 pages. I didn't want to spend another $20 for another cartridge and worry about how many pages or months it will last before I would need another one.
I knew that laser printers lasted longer and never purchased one before because they were relatively expensive Since I only needed one for black and white printing I decided to research various brands. I was hesitant to buy a Brother printer but couldn't pass up a deal to try one out for $49.99. Most reviews I read were favorable for this printer.
Well, I have not been disappointed with this printer thus far. The setup was very easy, surprisingly easy. Printing is relatively fast and painless. I did have one page get jammed but not a problem -- easily removed paper and continued printing.
The print quality is very good. I use 20 lb general purpose paper. It does curl a little with the heat, but it is ok for my purpose. I would recommend 22 or 24 lb paper for professional printing.
I would definitely recommend this printer for basic black and white printing.
