Pros: It's cheap.
Cons: low quality constant problems not worth the frustration
The Bottom Line: Don't waste your money. Save up and buy a better quality machine (wish I had)

I purchased my first 270d online. I had it for about 3 weeks before I had to return it. Luckily it was within 30 days so I didnt have to pay for shipping. I pulled the replacement out of the box and it was already jammed in the needle down position right out of the box. I called the company and they said that it had come directly from the brother factory and that they'd never even opened the box. I returned it for a refund. I went to a local walmart and bought a 3rd machine. This was about 9 months ago (?).
I have constantly had issues with tension control (about once a month it will start to create these awful loops on top of the fabric - no matter what fabric, thread, needle, stabilizer combination is used. I have to remove the embroidery arm and sew straight stitches for 30 minutes to 2 hours adjusting the tension every few minutes. Eventually it will work again. (so far).
Now the machine is randomly stopping mid design. Locking up saying to put the needle in the up position and then it starts all over as if i've just turned the machine on.
Or even better, it will stitch in the exact same spot until I turn it off.
I'm afraid to actually sew on anything.
I really really recomend that you stay as far away from this machine as possible. I will never buy another brother sewing machine. It's my intention to save up and buy a better machine from one of their competitors.
