alhena's Full Review: Brushfire Fairytales by Jack Johnson
I literally stumbled upon this CD while surfing around an independent music site. I'm glad I did, this CD has quickly become my favorite!
Brushfire Fairytales has 13 songs, each written by Jack Johnson. The music is a blend of acoustic guitar and piano, with drums and bass. The tempo of the music is mostly slow and moody, the kind of music that makes you sway in your seat. Some of the songs are bouncy, some are silly, some are somber, some are serious. The lyrics are deep and poetic.
Sexy Plexi, It's all Understood and F-Stop Blues are my favorite songs on this CD. I know you can hear a sample of some of them at CDBaby.com (that's where I found this CD) I don't have a least favorite song on the CD, they're all good.
Jack Johnson has a beautiful voice that doesn't overpower the music.
I guess if I were forced to find something negative about this CD it would be that it doesn't come in a jewel box, but instead a cardboard CD cover with no lyrics. Not like it matters, I found the lyrics on line and haven't taken the CD out of the CD player since I got it.
His music reminds me of some Dave Matthews - but without the nasally whine. So, if you enjoy Dave Matthews, check out this CD! You won't be sorry that you did!
