I'll admit right off the bat that I have a prejudice against Bud: it upsets my stomach. And it is the only beer I have ever found that did so. (Maybe that makes me out to be a lush, but if so, so be it) However, I have other reasons for not liking it much.
Bud is really all fizz with a little bitterness. I can't detect any real flavor in it. I have participated in and conducted several blind taste tests, and Bud has never come out on top in any of them, even when all the participants were loyal Bud drinkers.
The point of the "king of beers" slogan was to make people think, "maybe I can't BE a king, but at least I can drink THE KING OF BEERS." Kind of tacky when you sit down and think about it.
The Anheuser-Busch brewery has made other brands that are far better, some even cheaper. Bud just isn't worth it.
