| Borger's Full Review: Build-A-Bear Stuffed Bear |
After lots and lots of begging we finally took our kids to Build-A-Bear. This is a really neat store.
When you first go in you have to pick which animal you want. The majority of them are bears, but they do have bunnies, dogs, cats, a cow, a turtle and a couple of other animals. The prices are $10, $12, $15, $20, $25. Of course, the size animal goes with the price you pay. The $25 ones are really, really big. All the animals come un-stuffed.
After you pick out your animal you go to the stuffing machine. Here an attendant helps you put stuffing in your animal. This is done by putting your animal on this big machine and you get to pump the foot pedal and stuffing is then blown into your animal. You get to determine how stuffed you want your animal - soft or hard.
After it's stuffed another person will sew up the back. But before they do you get to pick a small material heart to put inside him. They also put a bar code inside them. So if you ever lose your animal someone who finds it should return it to any build-a-bear store and they can find who it belongs to.
After it's all sewed up you can go to a bathing table and pretend to give it a bath.
Next you can go to the computer. First you run your scan tag through the computer. This matches the one inside him) Now you will fill out info about you and give your bear a name. When you are all done a birth certificate will be printed out and waiting for you when you pay.
After you have all this done, then comes the fun part. Now you get to shop for their clothes. Let me tell you there are tons of things to pick from. Shorts, shirts, dresses, pants, swimsuits, fancy dress-up, night clothes, shoes, hats, glasses and many other accessories. They do have clothes for all the sizes of animals. You can try them on and see if you like them or not.
When you have finally done everything it's time to pay. Each animal you get, gets his own cardboard house. These are quite big and is a very neat way to send your animal home.
My kids had so much fun here, but I don't recommend going on the weekend. It took us about 2 hours just to get two animals. There is a long line to get them stuffed and then a long line to checkout in. I have been by the store during a weekday and there aren't many lines then.
